YOUR MENTORING ROLE

Make your experience useful.

  1. Join your university’s programme

Accept your invitation using the email it was sent to. Create a profile with your role, sector, country, experience and mentoring capacity.

  2. Choose the relationships you can support

Review incoming requests and accept those that fit your experience and availability. Keep a separate workspace for each mentee.

  3. Prepare around your mentee

Read their needs analysis and career goals. Review a suggested conversation plan, then edit the prompts and activities throughout the programme.

  4. Have useful conversations

Explore rather than lecture. Share what work is really like, how your field is changing and which capabilities matter. You are also part of your mentee’s developing professional network.

  5. Agree an achievable action

Choose or adapt a suggested weekly task. See your mentee’s completion note in their workspace and add feedback. Keep meetings and messages together.

  6. Offer an optional guided project

Turn an idea into a 5–10 hour brief, check scope and suitability, and review the submitted work. Confirm the output and skills demonstrated before marking it complete.

A manageable way to give back.

Each mentee has their own plan and workspace. Clear preparation, agreed actions and feedback keep your contribution focused.
